PITCO, in collaboration with International Resources Group (IRG), conducted a GIS-based electric utility consumer census for 70,000 consumers from March 2012 to April 2013 under the USAID-funded Power Distribution Program. The project aimed to collect GIS and consumer data for selected subdivisions at MEPCO and PESCO for load flow analysis, load profiling, rerouting, and load management. A team of GIS surveyors and enumerators was trained to conduct door-to-door surveys for data collection.<\/p>\n

The project included processed satellite imagery for the target area, preparation of maps into survey blocks, parcel-level digitization, development of a geo-database, and a census data management application. Enumerators collected data from all buildings within the target areas, categorizing them as electricity consumers and linking them to the utilities’ billing systems.
