World Bank Group (WBG)
From January 2014 to April 2017, PITCO participated in the World Bank’s ESMAP initiative for renewable energy resource (solar) mapping across Pakistan. The project aimed to support the sustainable expansion of electricity generation from solar power by providing the Government of Pakistan and commercial developers with an improved understanding of solar resources’ location and potential at the country level. The project involved collaboration with DLR Germany, Ecofys Netherlands, and CSP Services Germany.
The services provided included project inception, preliminary modeling, implementation planning, ground-based data collection using high-quality solar measurement devices, and production of validated solar resource maps. The project delivered a comprehensive Solar Atlas report describing the final outputs, methodology, and process, including geographic information system (GIS) data. This initiative aimed to support renewable energy development and provide open access to resource and geospatial mapping data for better decision-making.
