From 2011 to 2012, PITCO, in collaboration with First Climate AG Zurich Switzerland, conducted a project for DG Cement in Khairpur, Pakistan. The project aimed to install a Kalina cycle-based waste heat recovery system, which included three Heat Recovery Vapour Generators (HRVGs) with a total capacity of 83 tonnes per hour (tph) and one vapour Turbo Generator (TG) with a gross electricity generation capacity of 8.6 MW. The HRVGs were installed at the Preheater (PH) and Air Quenched Cooler (AQC) ends of the kiln to recover waste heat and generate electricity, reducing fossil fuel consumption and emissions.

PITCO’s services included assessing site conditions, conducting economic analysis, and preparing the financial feasibility of the project. Our team evaluated the technical viability of heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), selected the appropriate CDM methodology, and conducted environmental, social, and developmental impact assessments. PITCO prepared a request for proposals for a CDM Validator/designated operational entity (DOE), supported the client in hiring the DOE, and developed the CDM project design document (PDD). PITCO also assisted with host country approval, conducted stakeholder consultations, prepared a CDM monitoring manual, and provided post-registration support for project monitoring.
