From February 2018 to March 2018, PITCO conducted a coal transportation study for the 2 x 330 MW coal-fired power plant in Islamkote, Sindh, Pakistan. The project, funded by Siddiquesons Energy (SE), aimed to evaluate the transportation options for imported coal from Port Qasim or Karachi Port to the power plant site. The study involved assessing existing rail and road networks, port facilities, and environmental and safety concerns.
PITCO’s services included studying the existing condition of the rail network, consulting with federal government departments, assessing port facilities, and evaluating road options for coal transportation. Our team prepared estimates on the number of trucks required, examined environmental and safety concerns, evaluated risk mitigation measures, and compared transportation costs. The study provided recommendations for the most economical and reliable coal transportation option.
