PITCO, in collaboration with German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and First Climate (Switzerland) AG, provided the Government of Pakistan with policy and regulatory options to permanently reduce nitrous oxide emissions from the nitric acid sector from July 2020 to November 2020. The project aimed to support Pakistan’s commitment to the NACAG initiative, which involves signing the Statement of Undertaking (SoU) for continued abatement of N2O emissions and participating in NACAP auctions for carbon credits.
The project services included discussing relevant climate policy instruments with the Ministry of Climate Change, assessing the impact of these instruments, and preparing detailed reports with SWOT analyses and potential alternatives. Our team conducted consultations with stakeholders, including Fatima Fertilizers, to evaluate the implications of policy options. The final deliverables included a comprehensive report outlining the policy and regulatory options, a summary of major outcomes, and a presentation of findings to relevant stakeholders.
