Client:
Punjab Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency (PEECA)
From May 2019 to December 2019, PITCO conducted a study on captive power in Punjab Province for the Punjab Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency (PEECA). The project aimed to encourage greater participation by private enterprises in electricity generation, supply, and distribution. The study focused on adding resources for capacity enhancement in the electricity sector and strengthening public-private sector engagement to ensure project sustainability.
The services provided included carrying out a comprehensive study of captive power with respect to different DISCOs in Punjab province. Our team prepared questionnaires for initial reviews to study technology efficiencies, cost, consumption, production, fuel types, emissions of thermal power plants, and other parameters related to generating units. Methods were developed for improving the efficiencies of Captive Power Plants (CPPs) and technology upgradation in collaboration with industries. A business model for investment and improvement in CPP efficiencies was also developed.
