From October 2010 to April 2011, PITCO, as a subcontractor to International Resources Group (IRG) and funded by USAID, executed an operational audit for Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) in Punjab, Pakistan. The audit aimed to improve MEPCO’s financial, commercial, and technical performance by establishing baseline information to measure improvements and identifying areas for enhancement in governance, operations, finance, human resources, and customer service.

PITCO’s services included detailed data collection and evaluation in collaboration with MEPCO management. The audit covered governance, organizational structure, engineering and operations, financial management, commercial management, human resources, and communications. The team conducted performance benchmarking, identified high-impact performance interventions, reviewed board policies, and assessed organizational design. They also evaluated transmission and distribution systems, financial management processes, commercial procedures, and human resource management systems. The project aimed to enhance MEPCO’s operational efficiency, financial transparency, and overall service delivery.
