From June 2014 to December 2018, PITCO, through its sister concern Carbon Services (Pvt) Ltd., has been implementing the Lakhodair Landfill Methane Emissions Reduction project in Lahore, Pakistan. The project, funded  by the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), aims to construct Pakistan’s first solid waste management landfill in Lahore. The project focuses on reducing methane emissions from unmanaged solid waste disposal sites, positively impacting the local environment and public health. Additionally, the landfill has the capacity to generate approximately 4 MW of electricity, which will be exported to the national grid.

PITCO’s services included preliminary assessments, preparation of project idea notes, and selecting appropriate Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) methodologies. Our team conducted baseline assessments, emission reduction calculations, and developed the CDM project design document (PDD) and monitoring plan. PITCO assisted in obtaining host country approval, reviewed the initial environmental examination report, supervised stakeholder consultation meetings, and selected the designated operational entity (DOE) for project validation. The project aims to mitigate environmental impacts, promote sustainable waste management practices, and contribute to renewable energy generation.
