From May 2012 to February 2015, PITCO, as a subcontractor to IRG, implemented the installation of LT capacitors at agricultural tubewells under the USAID-PDP program in Punjab, Pakistan. The project aimed to reduce reactive power demand, lower current levels, and thus reduce demand and technical losses on the power system. The installation of 21,641 LT capacitors at MEPCO, LESCO, IESCO, and FESCO resulted in significant technical loss reduction and improved voltage at tubewell motor terminals.
PITCO’s services included pre- and post-installation energy audits, installation of capacitors, and reporting energy savings to the client. Our team measured and recorded data such as kW, kVA, kVAr, voltage, amperes, and power factor to evaluate the appropriate capacitor size. The project outcomes included improved load carrying capabilities in existing circuits, overall reduction in power system losses, and better voltage regulation at tubewell motor terminals. The project achieved total savings of 56.34 kW across the regions covered by MEPCO, LESCO, IESCO, and FESCO.
