From October 2020 to December 2020, PITCO, under a contract with The World Bank Group, supported 16 Municipal Committees (MCs) in Punjab, Pakistan, to improve systems and capacities for monitoring and managing energy consumption. The project aimed to develop appropriate processes for regularly improving energy efficiency through O&M and capital investments. Relevant staff were trained in asset inventories, diagnostic instrument usage, and energy audits, ensuring effective energy management and efficiency improvements.

PITCO’s services included developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for field audits, energy consumption monitoring, and preventive maintenance. PITCO designed and developed a Management Information System (MIS) for mainstreaming energy audit and energy efficiency planning, and created training content and instructional materials for MC staff. The project also involved estimating energy savings, analyzing greenhouse gas emission reductions, and conducting workshops and hands-on training for MC officials and engineering staff. The initiative aimed to institutionalize energy efficiency practices and enhance the operational efficiency of MCs in Punjab.
