From August 2019 to March 2021, PITCO prepared prefeasibility study reports for renewable energy assessment at designated factories in Karachi and Lahore, funded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The project aimed to assess the feasibility of installing rooftop solar PV systems at pre-selected industrial sites and draft technical and financial feasibility studies for recommended technologies.

PITCO’s services included on-site assessments of electricity requirements, load types, grid power status, load-shedding patterns, backup power usage, and solar resource availability. PITCO developed separate feasibility studies for each participating unit, covering project scope, site assessment, regulatory requirements, building structure analysis, electrical system assessment, energy yield assessment, system design, and financial analysis. The studies aimed to facilitate the installation of rooftop solar PV systems at industrial sites, promoting renewable energy adoption in Pakistan’s industrial sector.
