From November 2016 to February 2018, PITCO, in collaboration with Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG, conducted an environmental and social impact assessment for improving safe and clean drinking water supply in District Bahawalpur, Punjab, Pakistan. This project was part of the Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Program, initiated by the Government of Punjab to provide integrated, sustainable, safe, and clean drinking water in accordance with WHO guidelines. The project aimed to supply safe drinking water to villages with no existing water supply system and rehabilitate nonfunctional or abandoned schemes.

PITCO’s services included conducting scoping studies, analyzing topography, soil, and geology, and assessing surface water and hydrogeology. Our team evaluated air quality, climate conditions, fauna and flora, noise and vibration levels, and historical monuments in the project area. PITCO also conducted socioeconomic assessments, stakeholder consultations, and developed an environmental management plan with institutional arrangements and mitigation measures. The project involved preparing an environmental monitoring plan, cost estimates for environmental management, and strategies for climate resilience and mitigation.
