From December 2015 to January 2016, PITCO conducted an energy efficiency and on-site energy generation assessment for a paper products manufacturer in Lahore, Pakistan. Funded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the project aimed to identify potential energy-saving measures and opportunities for on-site energy generation through waste heat recovery. The assessment focused on evaluating the efficiency of existing utilities and identifying improvements to reduce steam and electricity costs.
The services provided included preparing a comprehensive questionnaire for data collection, conducting site visits, estimating efficiency gaps, and identifying energy efficiency opportunities. PITCO developed methodologies for waste heat recovery from the flue gases of existing Diesel Power Plants, evaluated the potential for generating steam, and recommended installing variable speed drives (VSD) and cycle isolation of boilers. The project culminated in the development of an energy balance flow diagram, a cost-benefit analysis for recommended measures, and detailed energy audit reports highlighting opportunities for energy conservation and cost savings.
