From October 2010 to September 2015, PITCO, in collaboration with International Resources Group (IRG), developed the Business Plan / Distribution Integrated Investment Plan (DIIP) for MEPCO under the USAID-funded Power Distribution Program. The objective was to create a strategic document to guide MEPCO’s activities for five years, focusing on financial viability, regulatory improvements, technology upgrades, and human resources development. The plan covered core business improvements in distribution system expansion and rehabilitation, as well as support business initiatives in commercial, financial, and HR functions.
The DIIP included an assessment of MEPCO’s organizational structure, financial management, and operational practices. It provided recommendations for enhancing customer care, reducing commercial losses, and implementing a new CIS. The plan also focused on improving HR practices, conducting training and capacity building, and enhancing communication strategies. The comprehensive plan aimed to transform MEPCO into an efficient and financially sustainable company, capable of delivering high-quality services to its customers.
