Pioneer Cement Limited
From April 2013 to December 2014, PITCO, in collaboration with International Resources Group (IRG) and Harris Group USA, assessed the technical and economic viability of incorporating a 35-50 MW biomass and coal-fired power plant, a 5-7 MW waste heat recovery unit, and energy efficiency upgrades at Pioneer Cement Limited’s plant in Jauharabad, Pakistan. The project aimed to reduce the plant’s dependence on unreliable grid power.
PITCO’s services included reviewing existing technical conditions, preparing a technical review of the plant’s power distribution system, and conducting a long-term biomass fuel supply chain analysis. PITCO performed biomass desktop studies, field surveys, laboratory testing, logistic planning, and recommended biomass processing and storage requirements. Our team also assessed power plant technology, prepared land and equipment layouts, evaluated power export/import mechanisms, conducted preliminary environmental reviews, and estimated capital and operating costs. The project aimed to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability at Pioneer Cement Limited’s plant.
