PITCO conducted an assessment of floating solar photovoltaic (FSPV) potential for Pakistan from August 2017 to September 2018 under the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The project’s objective was to assess the global status of floating PV and identify specific project opportunities in Pakistan. The study aimed to provide guidelines for FSPV plant design and performance specifications, identify suitable sites in Pakistan, and recommend how such projects could be developed and financed.
The services provided included assessing the commercial readiness of FSPV globally, conducting design and performance analysis, identifying potential FSPV facilities in Pakistan, creating interactive maps of potential sites, and providing recommendations for structuring commercial FSPV projects. This study aimed to support the development of floating PV projects in Pakistan, promoting renewable energy solutions and enhancing energy security.
