Since February 2024, PITCO, in collaboration with Groupehuit France, has been providing technical assistance for the Sindh Coastal Resilience Sector Project (SCRP) in Sindh, Pakistan. The project, fubded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aims to reduce flood risks and build resilience in the Sindh delta and coastal regions of Thatta, Sujawal, and Badin districts. The project comprises three main outputs: developing climate-resilient integrated water resources drainage and flood risk management solutions, restoring nature-based solutions for coastal protection, and strengthening institutional and community capacity for strategic action planning. During project processing, ADB will explore additional co-financing components for livelihood and economic transformation to be implemented by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
PITCO’s services include project scoping, formulation, and packaging, conducting background studies and surveys, preparing advanced feasibility studies, and updating associated documentation such as environmental and social safeguards assessments. PITCO also develop a coastal resilience strategic framework with priority investments, prepare an advanced feasibility study of at least three representative integrated subprojects, and undertake relevant hydrological and hydraulic analysis. Additionally, PITCO performs economic and financial analysis, prepares financial management and procurement risk assessments, and develops comprehensive documentation for ADB Board consideration and government project approval. The project aims to enhance the resilience of local communities against climate change impacts and minimize flood event impacts on coastal communities.
