From May 2012 to February 2015, PITCO, in collaboration with IRG, implemented the installation of LT capacitors at agricultural tubewells in Balochistan under the USAID-PDP program. The project aimed to reduce reactive power demand, lower current levels, and thus reduce demand and technical losses on the power system. The installation of 16,000 LT capacitors resulted in a demand reduction of approximately 70 MW in QESCO.
PITCO’s services included pre- and post-installation energy audits, installation of capacitors, and reporting energy savings to the client. Our team measured and recorded data such as kW, kVA, kVAr, voltage, amperes, and power factor to evaluate the appropriate capacitor size. The project outcomes included improved load carrying capabilities in existing circuits, overall reduction in power system losses, and better voltage regulation at tubewell motor terminals. The project achieved total savings of 63.23 kW across the regions covered by QESCO.
